How to Use Band-Aids and Important Precautions
As its name suggests, a bandage is applied whenever there is a wound. It is one of the most commonly used topical medical products in everyday life, also known as a “hemostatic plaster,” and serves to stop bleeding and protect the wound. It consists of an elongated adhesive strip with a small medicated gauze pad embedded in the center. Due to its design, a bandage is suitable only for emergency treatment of minor wounds, providing temporary hemostasis and safeguarding the wound surface. However, it should be noted that prolonged use is not advisable; if left on for too long, the non‑breathable outer layer can cause the wound and the surrounding skin to turn pale and soften, increasing the risk of secondary bacterial infection and further complicating the healing process.
